The information in the following three paragraphs is from the Elks Clubs’ official website, : Hope to see you soon at the Lodge. The Elks Club (the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks or BPOE) is a civic group, and an Elks Lodge is the building where a local chapter meets. Please call the Lodge Secretary for more information about these membership options. If financial hardship requires you to seek relief from renewing your dues, there are other options available. If you have received your dues notice and have yet to renew, now is the time. That’s why it’s important to understand that the Lodge is not a public a facility and why membership truly does have its privileges. One of the reasons our Lodge has such great facilities and wonderful events is to reward our members for their loyalty and for continuing to be members in good standing. The Lodge welcomes such socialization! In many cases, these people were so impressed with our facilities and hospitality that they asked to become members themselves. The Lodge bears the responsibility of protecting its members in good standing.Īs always, we encourage our members to invite their friends, relatives, and acquaintances to join us for a nice dinner at the Lodge or invite them to attend one of our outstanding events. Members would rightfully complain about such an injustice. Frankly, it would be foolish to pay a fee to enjoy the benefits of membership if everyone could enjoy the same benefits without paying a membership fee. This is done to protect the rights, privileges and benefits of those who choose to be members in good standing. But that’s not really true, because every Elks Lodge is also a private club and like any other private club access is restricted to members only. One may feel that these rules are overly punitive and perhaps not in keeping with some of our beloved Principles. You may not know this, but former members that have been dropped from the membership rolls cannot enter any Elks Lodge for any reason, not even as the guest of a member in good standing! Every year, some members of our Lodge will surrender their Elks privileges as a result of non-payment of dues, which is a terrible loss for them and the Lodge too. Lodge guests are always welcome, but they may only enter the Lodge when accompanied by a member. None of these benefits are available to the public or to former members who have surrendered their privileges. As you know, it impossible to put a price on the camaraderie of fellow members. Divide the cost of the dues, $78 by the number of days were are open which is 362, the cost of membership is just 22 cents per day! This is a bargain by anybody’s standard. This is just a portion of what your membership dues pay for. Let’s not forget we enjoy 4 giant flat panel high-definition televisions, 1 large projection television, a game room with a pool table, a shuffle board table, and a dart board machine. They also enjoy inexpensive drinks, occasional karaoke music and dancing in the Lounge. Lunches are served Tuesdays through Fridays. This is not to mention Wings and Things on Monday Nights, and our very popular steak at the Bar on Tuesday Nights. For instance, our members can enjoy a delicious dinner at the Lodge on Friday nights in a beautiful dining room at prices that are better than area restaurants. Members of the Elks enjoy privileges that are unavailable to the public and those that have let their membership lapse.
